Writing the Introduction is a crucial part of the writing. This is the first impression the examiner would have about your ability. So you better take good care of this. This is where you get to impress the examiner and earn a positive view towards your masterpiece.

Everyone has their own styles. Although the TYPICAL way of writing is good enough for someone looking to get 5.5 – 6.0, this is not enough to snatch a score above 6.0. You must cook something out of the box to achieving 7+.

Sample Question:

Write about the following topic:

City life is better than village life.
To what extent do you agree with this statement?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

An Outstanding Introduction:

If you want to write something OUTSTANDING to impress the examiner straightaway and achieve 7+ in IELTS, you should apply the following:

  1. Background Statement – Paraphrase the statement itself.
  2. Thesis Statement – State your opinion and introduce your ideas.

City offers a colourful and vibrant life which the village is yet to provide. Furthermore, cities furnish our everyday lives with all the contemporary facilities, comfort and entertainment in the world. Although there is no closer match for the lifestyle in cities, villages add a soothing freshness to it.
